The Hannibal Pirates and Palmyra Panthers opened their 2015 football seasons with decisive wins Friday night.

The Pirates trailed early, but came roaring back to knock off MICDS 34-9 at Porter Stadium. Jerry McBride and Shamar Griffith led the way with two touchdowns each. McBride had 18 carries for 190 yards, with Griffith carrying 21 times for 182 yards.

Hannibal entertains Jefferson City Helias next Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Palmyra Panthers opened their campaign with a 52-8 Clarence Cannon Conference win at Macon.

Six different Panthers scored touchdowns on the night, led by running back Travis Harvey, with 18 carries for 85 yards and two TD's.

Palmyra's defense also took care of business, holding the Tigers to minus-13 yards rushing and 66 total yards for the game.

The Panthers open their home season next Friday night as the Bowling Green Bobcats come to town.
