Officials say the Missouri Highway Patrol’s Aircraft Division played an important role recently in tracking three bank robbery suspects. The three men escaped on Wednesday from a corrections facility in Fulton. They allegedly stole a Missouri DOT vehicle, robbed a Martinsburg, Missouri bank, and then led officers on a chase that lasted nearly an hour. During the chase, shots were fired at officers.

The Aircraft Division used high definition cameras and Augmented Reality to relay information to officers on the ground.

After the getaway car crashed into a home in Montgomery City, twenty-three year old Cecil Golden and 22 year-old David Franklin were arrested. They are charged with first degree assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, first degree tampering with a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.

The third suspect fled to a nearby unoccupied home. After a standoff, 23 year-old Wade T. Sargent was found dead inside the residence Wednesday evening. Officials say he apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
