A Pike County, Illinois man is arrested on child abuse charges in Pittsfield Monday.

According to Pittsfield Police Chief Kenny Yelliott, officers responded to a report of child abuse Friday at a Pittsfield residence.

An investigation by police and the Department of Children and Family Services resulted in the arrest Monday of 29 year old Jonathan Booth of Pearl for domestic battery.

Booth is alleged to have struck a four year old child in the buttocks with a belt, leaving a bruise.

Booth is in the Pike County Jail without bond, pending a court appearance.
