The Pike County Board Monday approved a letter of support for a proposed medical cannabis cultivation center.

On a 5-2 vote, the board approved the request from the Rinella Company of Quincy. Rinella is part of a consortium working toward the cultivation center.

The consortium is looking at the former Pike Pellet property, north of the I-72/Highway 107 interchange south of Griggsville.

Groups wanting to build cultivation centers have until September to file for a permit from the state.
