Pike County Fatalities Blamed on Drowning

(Pike County, Ill)—A one-car crash in Pike County, Illinois leaves two dead.

Illinois State Police report 53 year-old Kathy Kendrick of New Canton was driving eastbound on IL 106 at 12:29 am Saturday morning.  Her car left the roadway near 140^th Street and traveled down an embankment into a body of water.

Kendrick and a passenger, 48 year-old Brent Schmalshof of Auburn, Illinois both drowned as a result of being unable to exit the vehicle.
