Missouri's Department of Conservation is investigating after seven pelicans were found dead Monday night .The birds are federally protected. The birds were found in the South River Drainage District in Marion County. Matt Markley of the Missouri Department of Conservation says killing pelicans is illegal and that they are protected under the Federal Migratory Bird Act.
