Party Leaders Visit Demo Days Saturday [Audio]

(Hannibal)--Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, Attorney General Chris Koster, and Ag Director Jon Hagler spoke at Hannibal's Democrat Days event  Saturday. 

Nixon attended a brunch, where he made the case for his Medicaid expansion plan.

Attorney General Koster was emcee for the evening banquet.  Koster says one of the challenges facing Missouri Democrats is increasing their numbers in the legislature.

Missouri Director of Agriculture, Dr. John Hagler, was the keynote speaker for the Saturday evening banquet.   Hagler says in addition to budget sequestration, Washington has another pressing issue--the Farm Bill, vital to the state’s number one industry…

Hagler has served as Ag Director since his 2009 appointment by Governor Nixon.

Hagler hails from the southern part of Missouri, but says he became well acquainted with brutal winters and snow while attending Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville.
