(Palmyra, Mo)—A Saturday morning house fire seriously injuries a Palmyra woman. Firefighters called to the residence at 116 Ross St. just before 9 a.m. yesterday arrived to find fire coming out of the kitchen window. Firefighters searching the smoke-filled house found Darlene Von Thun on the floor and carried her outside.

Von Thun was first taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Columbia.

A state fire marshall called in to investigate says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but is believed to have originated near the kitchen stove. The fire was contained to the kitchen area but the rest of the home sustained considerable smoke, water, and roof damage.
