PALMYRA, Mo. -- The Palmyra City Council voted Thursday night to authorize the Northeast Missouri Economic Development Council to formally submit paperwork to the state for an Enhanced Enterprise Zone covering the city of Palmyra and most of east-central Marion County.
The establishment of such a zone allows for state and local tax incentives to be offered to new or expanding businesses within the zone.
The council voted on an ordinance that creates the zone, along with an advisory board to oversee it, and authorizes the incentive, but the state Department of Economic Development now must certify the zone before it becomes official.
