For the second consecutive year, the Palmyra Panthers win their Class 2 district championship game over Bowling Green, taking the title with a 30-6 win over the Bobcats Friday night.

Bowling Green scored first on a 3 yard run by quarterback Jacob Niemeyer, and led 6-0 after one quarter.

The Panthers' offense got rolling in the second quarter. Ben Cheffey connected with Miles Kite on a 51 yard touchdown pass. The conversion made it 8-6, and Panthers never looked back.

Skyler Kline ran for a score, Cheffy threw a second TD pass to Mason Franklin, then scored himself in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.

The Panthers dominated time of possession in the second half, keeping the Bobcat offense off the field until it was too late.

Palmyra plays the winner of Saturday's game between Hermann and Lutheran North next weekend in the state quarterfinals.
