The Palmyra Panthers advanced in district play Friday night, as they rolled over Mark Twain 36-12.

Palmyra took a 14-0 lead after one quarter on a three-yard run by Alec Bland and a 23 yard run by Caleb Kizer. A one-yard run by the Tigers' Tyler Steinkamp early in the second quarter made it 14-6. The Panthers scored once more before halftime on a two-yard run by Brock Butler. Palmyra put the game away in the third on a 22 yard scoring pass from Butler to Cameron Nutt and an 11-yard run by Bobby Gruenloh. Steinkamp scored once more for Mark Twain late on an eight-yard run.

Palmyra advances to the district quarterfinals on Wednesday. They'll host the Highland Cougars, who beat Clopton-Elsberry Friday night 30-8.
