The Palmyra Panthers scored twice in the first half and let their defense do the rest as they earned a spot in the Missouri Class 2 football semifinals with a 14-7 win Saturday over Lutheran North.

Running back Travis Harvey barreled into the end zone twice before halftime. The Crusaders had a rushing touchdown of their own in the third quarter. Then, the defenses controlled the fourth stanza, with Palmyra denying Lutheran North a tying touchdown in the final seconds.

The win runs the Panther record to 9-4, and sets up a semifinal confrontation with South Callaway next weekend.

Elsewhere Saturday, in Class 1, Westran knocked off South Shelby 24-20.
