One Dead and One in Custody Following Shooting South of Quincy

A Quincy man is in custody following a fatal shooting early Sunday morning in the 3000 block of South 24th near Quincy. 

Adams County deputies responded to a shots fired call around 5:15 Sunday morning. Deputies arrived to find 21-year-old Austin Michael Herman on the porch of a residence with a single gunshot wound. Herman was pronounced dead by the Adams County Coroner at 5:57 Sunday morning.

Deputies took 21-year-old Zachary Ballinger of Quincy into custody on charges of involuntary manslaughter and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Ballinger is held without bond in the Adams County Jail.
