One Dead and One in Custody After Pittsfield Domestic Incident

A Pike County Illinois man is held without bond following a domestic disturbance that left a woman dead.
Authorities say 63 year old David Sampley is charged with domestic battery and that he is a person of interest after 63 year old Sharon Welch was found unresponsive. Welch was taken to Illini Community Hospital and pronounced dead. Pittsfield Police were called to the 600 block of Clarksville Road in Pittsfield around 7 p-m. Sampley is held in the Pike County Jail at Pittsfield without bond. An autopsy for Welch is scheduled this morning in Bloomington.
