A rerun of a historic automobile race is underway, and the racers will be spending the night in Hannibal Tuesday.

The Ocean to Ocean Automobile Endurance Contest was America’s First transcontinental automobile race. It ran from New York City to Seattle in June of 1909.

To celebration the 110th anniversary of the race, some 35 Model T’s are recreating the race. They started out in Tarrytown, New York and are headed for Seattle.

The route covers 4000 miles in eleven states.

The Model T’s are scheduled to arrive in Hannibal between 3 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, overnighting at the Comfort Inn and Suites.
