For the most part, unemployment in northeast Missouri was up in January from December, but lower than a year ago.

Numbers from the Missouri Department of Labor show that jobless rates in our part of the state ranged from 3.9 percent in Audrain County to 7.2 percent in Clark and Schuyler counties.

In Marion County, the January jobless rate stood at 4.4 percent, up six-tenths of a percent from December, but down a tenth of a percent from a year ago.

Meanwhile, in Ralls County, unemployment stood at 4.1 percent in January, compared to 3.6 percent in December and 4.6 percent in January of 2016.

Statewide unemployment in January stood at 4.6 percent of the workforce.
