Northeast Correctional Center on Lockdown

A corrections officer at the Northeast Correctional Center is recovering from injuries sustained Wednesday in an attack by an inmate.
A spokesman for the facility at Bowling Green says the staff member is alert and in stable condition at a nearby hospital following the attack with a makeshift weapon. David Owens of the Missouri Department of Corrections says an institutional lockdown is in effect to ensure safety of staff and the offender population.
Authorities say the incident is under investigation.
