Friday night would not be another night of heartbreak for the Palmyra Panthers.

After losing their first two games by a total of eight points, the Panthers rode the arm and legs of junior quarterback Brock Butler to a 21-12 win over state-ranked South Shelby.

Butler ran for all three of Palmyra's touchdowns, rushing for 74 yards and passing for 98 more to improve the Panthers' record to 1-2.

The Cardinals had to play most of the night without running back Wes Mefford, who suffered a leg injury on the fourth play of the game.

Palmyra travels to Highland next Friday night.
