An Illinois man twice convicted of killing a 9-year-old girl in 1990 in Davenport will be tried for murder once again in Scott County.

The Quad-City Times reports that Stanley Liggins' new trial was set for late October during a Friday hearing.

It will be the third time the 51-year-old Liggins is tried in the case. Juries twice convicted him in the death of Jennifer Lewis, who disappeared from her Rock Island, Ill., neighborhood. Investigators say she was raped and strangled, wrapped in a plastic bag, doused with gasoline and set on fire near a Davenport elementary school.

In November, the Iowa Court of Appeals ordered a new trial, saying prosecutors should have told Liggins' attorneys that a key witness was a paid police informant.
