An investigation by the Pike County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office results in the arrest of a New Salem woman and three toddlers taken into protective custody Wednesday.

According to Sheriff Paul Petty, deputies responded to a report of three year old twins being found in New Salem. The boys’ mother was identified as 26 year old Jessica Bowman.

The twins, along with an 18 month old boy also in the home, were taken into protective custody and taken to Illini Hospital for evaluation.

Bowman was arrested on an outstanding Adams County warrant on a previous meth charge. She is in the Pike County Jail, awaiting extradition to Adams County.

No charges have been filed in connection with Wednesday’s incident, which remains under investigation.
