New leadership is in place for the Hannibal Cavemen as the 2015 season approaches.

Greg McVey assumes the role of general manager and field manager.

“When I stepped away in ’07, there has always been that tug,” McVey said regarding his return to the dugout. For now, work remains on finalizing a roster and getting up to speed on the off field aspects of his new job.

McVey came to the area as baseball coach at Quincy University in 2001. He was also general manager for the Quincy Gems in 2007. He was also involved with athletic administration at Quincy University. Most recently, McVey was the athletic director at Culver-Stockton College.

Outgoing GM John Civitat and his wife Judy are returning to the Lake of the Ozarks area.  Jay Hemond plans to coach and scout for a team in Italy.

Hannibal’s home opener is May 30th against Terre Haute.  League play begins on May 28th.
