Hannibal's four-legged residents are the beneficiaries of an effort by a number of businesses and community organizations.

New equipment for the Dempsey Dog Park at 6th and Ely in Hannibal will be unveiled at 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 14.

The new agility equipment comes through the efforts of the Mount Zion Country Lovers 4-H Club. The cost of the new gear was covered by the club, through a grant from the FCS Financial Shaping Rural Missouri Grant Program, and by the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department.

The new equipment includes an elevated 3-hoop jump, a crawl tunnel, a jump-over elevated pole and a grooming table. Parks & Rec officials say the new gear encourages strength training, coordination and conditioning.
