MODOT officials say half of the construction on the new Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana is complete.
MODOT Project Director Keith Killen says piers in the river are nearly complete and crews are placing steel girders that will support the bridge deck. Work on the bridge deck will begin this winter with roadway pavement work in the summer of ’19. Killen says intersection improvements are complete at US 54 and Missouri 79 in Louisiana as well as an overlook at Riverview Park. Plans are for the new 60 million dollar bridge to open to traffic in November of 2019. Demolition of the current bridge is planned for the spring of 2020.
