(UNDATED)--Today is the first day to sign up for utility assistance in Northeast Missouri.    The North East Community Action Corporation will take applications from qualifying seniors and the disabled. Applications for all other eligible participants will begin November First.

The agency expects a record number of applications. Eligibility is based upon income, the number of people per household and the type of heating source.

Applications will be accepted by mail and in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at NECAC County Service Centers in each county.

People who receive a utility shut-off notice also may qualify for assistance.
