A request by local media to allow cameras in the courtroom for an upcoming murder trial was denied Thursday.

WGEM reports that they and other media outlets had requested that cameras be allowed in the courtroom for the murder trial of Timothy Brokes.

Brokes is accused of shooting Aaron Gauch and shooting to death his wife, Brittany Gaugh early last year.

The request also asked for the use of social media and live streaming of the proceedings.

In her ruling, Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd cited the Missouri Supreme Court Operating rule that granting the request would “materially interfere with the rights of the parties to a fair trial.”

Brokes is scheduled to be back in court for a motion to suppress hearing November 27th.
