After a weekend of rain throughout the area and flash floods in western Illinois, more rain is expected Monday with lesser chances of precip through most of the week in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the area until noon Monday, with the possibility of heavy rain in the National Weather Service forecast from mid-morning through midday. The chance of showers and thunderstorms lessens through Monday evening.

Sunny skies are expected Tuesday and Wednesday. Starting Wednesday night, with the exception of Friday, there are 20 to 40 percent chances of precipitation through Sunday.

After a high of 87 Monday, temperatures will moderate to the low 80s through the middle part of the week, jumping back into the upper 80s Friday through Sunday.

Low temperatures are predicted to drop to the mid 60s to start the week, rising to the around 70 Thursday through Sunday.
