Road construction season is coming to Hannibal.

MODOT says work starts Wednesday, May 20 on sidewalks and pavement repair from the south side of the viaduct to Stowell School. Normal work hours are 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on weekdays.

When that project is complete, work begins along Mark Twain Avenue between Grand and North Streets. A-D-A compliant sidewalks will go in along the south side of the street. When that work is complete in late July, MODOT plans to re-pave all five lanes of Mark Twain Avenue and three lanes through Hannibal to Stowell School.

Work on these projects is expected to be complete by the end of September. Total cost of the project is around 1.5 million dollars.
