A traffic crash over the weekend was the final motivation to make a change in the traffic signals at a busy Hannibal intersection.

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced that the traffic signal at Third and Center has been changed to flash red for traffic on Center and to flash yellow for Third Street traffic.

MODOT had discussed making the change for some time, but a traffic crash at Third and Center Saturday hastened the decision to go ahead and make the change.

Officials say that, depending on a traffic study over the next two months, the flashing signals could be removed and stop signs installed for Center Street traffic.
