With the beginning of the new school year upon us, the state of Missouri is giving back to school shoppers a break this weekend.

The period from now through midnight Sunday has been designated by the state of Missouri as a tax free holiday.

Anyone coming to Missouri to shop for clothing, school supplies, computer software, personal computers and peripheral devices and graphing calculators, with certain limits, will not have to pay state sales tax.

Local jurisdictions have the option to also waive their taxes this weekend.
The northeast Missouri counties of Audrain, Pike and Shelby have decided not to waive their taxes, along with the cities of Palmyra, Paris, Shelbina and Vandalia.
