State Troopers will conduct extra patrols of northeast Missouri highways this Thanksgiving weekend.  Officers will be participating in Operation CARE, or Combined Accident Reduction Effort.  The national program emphasizes highway safety through aggressive traffic enforcement.  The Highway Patrol will also conduct the “20 Mile Trooper” operation on Wednesday and Sunday. Troop B officers will be patrolling selected portions of US 36, 61, and 63 in 20 mile intervals.  Officials say traffic fatalities in Missouri have decreased 11 percent compared to last year.
