The city of Hannibal recently received a prestigious award for its risk management efforts.

The Missouri Intergovernmental Risk Management Association, or MIRMA presented the city with a plaque for achieving a perfect score on its most recent loss control evaluation.

Jeff Arp, loss control specialist for MIRMA said the perfect score is a first for the City of Hannibal. Arp says the score reflects collaboration from all parties starting with the City Council down to its employees. The evaluation process requires multiple inspections on all buildings and property owned by the city as well as implementation of safety programs.

Arp says the measures are required to help the city keep employees and residents safe.
Hannibal project manager Brian Chaplin accepted the Perfect Loss Prevention Evaluation Score award on behalf of the city of Hannibal.
