A keep the peace request early Tuesday afternoon in Moberly ends with an officer involved shooting. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Moberly Police were called to 406 West Carpenter in Moberly around 1:30 pm. While at the residence, authorities say a white male began acting erratically and approached the officer with a knife and in a threatening manner. The officer discharged his firearm wounding a man identified as 37 year old Joseph Ritter of Moberly. The Patrol says Ritter is listed in serious but stable condition at University Medical Center in Columbia. The Moberly Police officer was not injured. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating.
