The murder trial of a Quincy man has been put on hold.

There was a status hearing Tuesday for 30 year old Derek McKenzie. His attorney requested additional records, and when she receives them, she will have a better idea of when the case will proceed.

McKenzie is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the beating death of 48 year old Billy Graham in an apartment above Izzey’s Bar and Grill on North 5th on December 7th, 2015.

The defense had gotten permission last month to hire a forensic psychiatric expert to help with McKenzie’s case.

There will be another status hearing March 14th.

McKenzie is in the Adams County Jail on $5-million dollars bond.
