The United Way of the Mark Twain Area had over a half-million reasons to celebrate at its annual meeting Wednesday.

Their annual campaign blew through its goal, raising a total of $585,000 so far. Executive Director Frank Ditillo was generous in his praise for all who worked to make the campaign such a success, including kind words for us at KHMO for our on-air and on-line coverage.

The process of where the money goes has already begun, with the allocation committee's work underway.

The United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program continues, with appointments still being taken through Douglass Community Services.
