(Ralls County)—Ralls County authorities conducted an unannounced drug sweep today of Mark Twain Senior High School in Center.

At approximately 9:00 am the school announced a code yellow lock down of all students and personnel on the school intercom.The school also notified all parents via their emergency notification system. The search utilized K-9 law enforcement dogs from Hannibal Police Department, Monroe City Police Department and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. The search on school premises included all lockers, school bags and vehicles in the parking lot.

Officials report no contraband or illegal narcotics were located.

Officers from the New London and Perry Police Departments also assisted with the operation.

The Sheriff’s Department commended the staff of the Mark Twain High School for their ongoing efforts to keep the high school safe and drug free.

Officials say although no narcotics or contraband were located during the operation, it did re-enforce to the faculty and student body the Sheriff’s zero tolerance policy towards drugs within our schools.
