Marion County Commissioners Monday approved the low bid for the replacement of a bridge in the northeast part of the county.

The commission accepted the $189,000 bid from Bleigh Construction for replacement of Triplett Bridge on Marion County Road 312 in the Smileyville area.

The new bridge will be a full two lanes wide and 55 feet long with no weight limit.

Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode says the work should be completed by the end of summer.

The bridge is being paid for from funds raised by Marion County three-eighths cent sales tax, with some matching funds coming from MODOT.

Marion County Road 312 will be closed while the old bridge is torn out and new bridge put in place.
