The Marion County Commissioners Monday unanimously approved a revamped proposal from Ameren Illinois for its Mark Twain Transmission Line project.

According to Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode, the commission had rejected Ameren’s proposal a year ago.

Bode says the difference now is that Ameren has entered into a partnership with Northeast Missouri Power.
This partnership means that Ameren can co-locate its lines with NEMO Power’s, giving NEMO Power the opportunity to upgrade its power poles from wooden poles to larger, metal poles along its existing route from the Maywood substation to Kirksville.

Ameren still needs the blessing of the county commissions in Lewis, Knox, Adair and Schuyler counties, and then the approval of the Missouri Public Service Commission.
