Fire late Saturday morning destroyed one of the oldest buildings in Marcelline.

Ursa Fire Chief Terry Fuller says the back of the building had fallen before fire crews arrived. Firefighters from the Lima-Tioga and Loraine Fire Departments were also called in. Illinois 96 was closed in both directions. The long vacant building had served as a school and more recently as a feed store. Fire investigators are looking for the cause.Residents in the area say brush was being burned nearby when the fire started. No injuries are reported.
