A man has been charged after a weeks-long string of crimes in Springfield.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that 27-year-old Justin M. Russell was charged Friday with five counts of felony robbery, one count of felony burglary and a felony count of tampering.

Court documents say Russell targeted women who were alone outside shopping centers at night. He often pointed a gun in his victim's face before demanding her purse.

Russell's stolen credit card use helped police identify him. Police found stolen goods in the possession of his friends as well as a BB gun that matched the description of the weapon used in several robberies.

Russell is currently on felony parole for prior convictions, including burglary, distribution of a controlled substance and forgery.

His bond has been set at $250,000. An attorney for Russell wasn't listed Friday afternoon.
