A southwest Missouri man is charged with first-degree murder in a case from 2006.

The Camden County Sheriff's department says David W. Smith of Camdenton was arrested last week in death of Shawn E. Spencer.

Spencer hasn't been seen since 2006. His mother reported him missing in April 2007, saying it wasn't unusual to for him to be gone for extended periods of time.

The sheriff's department says a witness told detectives in 2011 that he saw Smith shoot Spencer to death in April 2006. Detectives searched land Smith owned but found no remains and the case went cold.

Smith was arrested last week after another witness came forward. He is being held without bond in the Camden County jail.

Online court records don't indicate Smith has an attorney.
