An organization that had served as a shelter and service provider for women and families in crisis for nearly three decades has closed.

Officials with Madonna House announced Wednesday that discussions of merging with or transferring services to another agency had ended, and that they have ceased operations.

Madonna House closed its shelter in July due to low census. Prevention services ended November 30th, with their food pantry closing December 19th.

The former shelter property has been sold, with a second property slated to go on the market soon.

Once Madonna House liquidates its assets, anything left over will go to a number of other local agencies that provide similar services.
