The candidate who won the November election for Marion County Prosecuting Attorney has been sworn in following the death of his predecessor.

Luke Bryant was sworn in Saturday as acting prosecutor by Presiding Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd.

Judge Shepherd said that pending county arrest warrants necessitated the timely appointment of a new prosecutor.

Bryant will officially begin his term as prosecutor January 1st.

Bryant’s predecessor, David Clayton, died Saturday in his home. The police investigation into Clayton’s death continues, but foul play is not suspected.
