One area festival begins in earnest while another celebration comes to an end Wednesday.

The Louisiana Bicentennial enters its final day Wednesday, with a veterans breakfast at the Elks Lodge at 7 a.m. The dedication of the John Brooks Henderson bust takes place at 1 p.m. at Henderson Riverview Park. There will be a motorcycle parade and a boat fly-by on the riverfront at 3:30, with vendors on the riverfront at 4, a flag disposal ceremony at 4:30 and fireworks and a lighted boat parade at dusk.

Meanwhile, National Tom Sawyer Days gets into full swing in Hannibal Wednesday. Kiwanis arts and crafts open in Central Park at 9 a.m., with the Jaycees Fourth of July parade at 10, the Tom and Becky announcement at noon.

The carnival opens at noon, mud volleyball at the Y-Men’s Pavilion at 2 and fireworks from the top of Lover’s Leap at 9:30 p.m.
