There has been a case of Legionnaires’ Disease confirmed in Adams County.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Friday there were at least two locations the individual could have contracted the bacteria, but test results could not pinpoint where the bacteria came from.

Media reports indicate it was 78 year old Zola Jackson who contracted the bacteria. While she contends the bacteria came from a contaminated humidifier in her home, she also volunteers at the Illinois Veterans Home, where there was an outbreak of Legionnaires last summer.

Health officials believe this is an isolated case and that the residents of the Veterans Home are not under any heightened risk.
