(HANNIBAL)—A Hannibal man is turning a challenging personal situation into a fund raiser for Leaps of Love. J.R. Latta is undergoing chemotherapy for colon cancer and is losing his hair as a result. Latta has decided to make lemonade out of lemons, as Paul Llewellyn of the Main Street Wine Stoppe explained.

On Sunday the Wine Stoppe will host a benefit for Latta, and a chances to cut his white hair will be auctioned off. Proceeds will benefit Leaps of Love, a local organization that helps children with childhood cancer and their families. An open house starts at 3 p.m. at the Main Street Wine Stoppe with music and food. Mayor Roy Hark will be the event emcee.

Leaps of Love also benefited from the 100 dollar package of Twinkies auctioned off during Bids For Bargains on KHMO.
