A central Missouri lawmaker wants to require the state's law enforcement database to be updated within 24 hours after an outstanding warrant has been recalled.

Anne Wharton of Columbia says she was humiliated when she was arrested last year and placed in handcuffs for an outstanding warrant on a ticket she paid several weeks earlier.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System showed an active warrant on Wharton after she was involved in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Wharton's arrest prompted Republican state Rep. Chuck Basye to file a bill requiring warrant information in the database to be updated within 24 hours. His proposal covers warrants issued for moving violations and other motor vehicle offenses.
