A Keokuk man is in the Hancock County Jail after leading authorities on a three-state chase around midnight Monday.

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger reports the chase started when 44 year old Joseph Hanson fled from Clark County deputies attempting to make a traffic stop.

The chase proceeded into Lee County, Iowa, through Keokuk and into Hancock County. Hanson made his way through Hamilton and was headed toward Carthage. After being hampered by tire deflation devices, the chase ended when Hanson’s truck ran off the road, through a fence and into a bean field.

Hanson is charged with DUI, fleeing and eluding police, driving with a revoked license and possession of cannabis.
