A narcotics investigation at the LaPlata Amtrak depot leads to the arrest of a Kansas City man.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says 41 year old Nathaniel Bales had been a passenger on a train and information was received indicating he was in possession of a controlled substance. Use of a search warrant resulted in the discovery of a large amount of methamphetamine in Bales personal belongings along with alphazolam—a controlled substance. Bales was arrested for felony drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. Bales was taken to the Macon County Sheriff’s office pending issuance of an arrest warrant.
