A Calhoun County woman pleads guilty and is sentenced to prison Friday in connection with the drug induced death of a Milton man.

As part of a plea deal, 26 year old Kayla Howard pleaded guilty to delivery of a controlled substance Friday in Pike County Circuit Court in Pittsfield. A second charge of drug induced homicide was dropped.

Howard was immediately sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Howard and 31 year old Derek Tepen were arrested in March after allegedly delivering fentanyl-laced heroin to 35 year old Gavin Bland, who died after ingesting the heroin.

Tepen has pleaded not guilty to similar charges in the case. His case is on the January jury docket.
