Judge Sets $2M Bond For Man Accused in Fatal Home Invasion

A $2 million bond has been set for a man accused in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy during a home invasion in Peoria.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that 21-year-old Alex F. Collins is charged with first-degree murder and home invasion in connection with the break-in Saturday morning. He's accused of being involved in the home invasion in which 14-year-old Tommie T. Forest III was killed and three other Peoria High School students were injured, but police believe Collins had an accomplice and don't know whether he shot Forest.

Collins faces a minimum of 35 years and a maximum of life in prison if convicted of the charges. He's scheduled to appear in court Nov. 12 for a preliminary hearing, but a grand jury could review the case before then.

Court records don't indicate an attorney for Collins.
